Raynaud is presenting a complete new porcelain dinnerware directly inspired by the works created by Jean Cocteau in the 1950s. Jean Cocteau (1889 – 1963) was a French poet, illustrator, painter, playwright and film-maker, and was one of the most important artists of the 20th century.
French manufacturer Raynaud is reinterpreting the motifs of the original plates and using them on fine Limoges porcelain. The result is an elegant collection, based on the matt pastel backgrounds with subtle hues so dear to Cocteau, which contrast with the fine lines of the motifs.
The mythological characters of Orpheus and Eurydice, Proteus and Antinous, with their profiles outlined in colour, are emblematic of Cocteau’s work. They are a must for collectors and admirers of this eclectic artist.
