Pebble Rubble, system

Pebble Rubble, designed by Swedish designers Sofia Lagerkvist and Anna Lindgren of Front Design, expresses above all a sensorial experience.

Let’s imagine finding ourselves in front of a powerful and mysterious work, composed of enormous, heavy blocks of stone which – in a time that is not ours – “someone” endowed with superhuman strength has lifted and positioned, creating seats with a megalithic appearance ; let’s imagine that all this happens in an unexpected place – at the entrance of a bank, in the lounge of a hotel or in the hall of a library – in any case, in a different and distant context in terms of urban density and formal language; we imagine, finally, getting closer, touching the surfaces and, only then, being amazed by their softness.

The Pebble Rubble system , designed by Swedish designers Sofia Lagerkvist and Anna Lindgren of Front Design for Moroso , expresses above all a sensorial experience. A pleasant illusion that attracts and intrigues us, altering, in addition to the senses, our perception of time: fast and frenetic that of everyday life, slow and inscrutable that of nature.

“Our new system for Moroso is inspired by the shapes found in nature. As children in our native Sweden, our playground was the forest, and we imagined rocks, moss, and fallen trees as furniture and places for the body to rest. For this seating collection, we 3D scanned the rocks we saw during our many forest walks and composed these organic shapes into furniture,” the designers share.

In Pebble Rubble, design is manifestly a means of expressing a message that transcends the formal and functional qualities of an ordinary seat. The most evident and immediate aspect plays on the similarity between the padded volumes and those of enormous stones , smoothed by the incessant work of the wind and rain and covered in an organic or vegetal layer capable of softening the roughness and making the surfaces welcoming and comfortable.

Although mainly designed for use in public spaces in the Corporate and Hospitality sectors , the Pebble Rubble system is made up of 15 multi-element modules (seat and backrests) completed by 3 poufs which allow – for the architect as well as the enthusiast – a extremely free, flexible and creative in combinations. Infinite compositional possibilities which, from the single armchair to the creation of a sophisticated landscape, will contribute to making any interior project “magical” and distinctive.

Description

Embark on a sensory journey with Pebble Rubble, an extraordinary seating system designed by visionary Swedish designers Sofia Lagerkvist and Anna Lindgren of Front Design for Moroso. This avant-garde creation transcends conventional seating, offering an immersive experience that captivates the senses and blurs the line between nature and design.

Imagine encountering Pebble Rubble—a powerful and enigmatic work of art comprised of colossal stone blocks, seemingly lifted and arranged with superhuman strength. These monolithic structures, reminiscent of megalithic seats, stand as a testament to nature’s enduring beauty and strength. Yet, they do not belong in their natural habitat but in unexpected urban settings—an entrance to a bank, a hotel lounge, or a library hall—where their presence challenges traditional notions of space and form.

Nature-Inspired Innovation: Discover Pebble Rubble by Front Design

As you approach Pebble Rubble, you are immediately drawn in by its tactile allure. The smooth surfaces of the stone-like volumes, softened by an organic layer, beckon you to touch them, inviting a sensory exploration that transcends the mundane. Designed to evoke wonder and intrigue, Pebble Rubble offers more than just a place to sit; it provides a gateway to an alternate reality, where time slows down and the hustle and bustle of everyday life fade away.

At the heart of Pebble Rubble lies a profound message—a celebration of nature’s beauty and resilience, and an homage to the designers’ childhood memories of playing amidst the rocks and fallen trees of the Swedish forest. Through meticulous 3D scanning and composition of organic shapes, Lagerkvist and Lindgren have brought the essence of the forest into the realm of design, creating a seating collection that blurs the boundaries between the natural and the man-made.

The Pebble Rubble system comprises 15 multi-element modules, including seats and backrests, as well as 3 poufs, offering architects and enthusiasts unparalleled freedom and flexibility in composition. From a single armchair to a sprawling landscape of seating arrangements, the possibilities are endless, allowing each interior project to become a canvas for creativity and expression.

Designed primarily for public spaces in the Corporate and Hospitality sectors, Pebble Rubble transforms ordinary interiors into extraordinary realms, where the mundane becomes magical and the commonplace becomes distinctive. With its seamless blend of form and function, Pebble Rubble invites us to reimagine the way we interact with our surroundings, offering a glimpse into a world where design transcends the ordinary and becomes a source of inspiration and wonder.
